Tanya Wright, “ROSE”
Tanya currently appears in the HBO series “TRUE BLOOD,” produced by Academy-Award winning writer, Alan Ball. BUTTERFLY RISING, a screenplay she penned, also marks her directorial debut.
Writing was Tanya Wright's first passion; she worked briefly at The New York Times and then relocated to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career. She quickly gained momentum on the small screen, moving from guest-spots to recurring stints to becoming a familiar face to weekly television audiences.
Following a summer participating in the prestigious Williamstown Theatre Festival, Wright started building an actor's resume. She has enjoyed regular and recurring roles on ground-breaking shows like “24”, “NYPD BLUE” and “ER”. Additionally, she appeared in Alex Haley's mini-series “Mama Flora's Family” opposite Cicely Tyson, and starred in the Morgan Freeman-produced NBC feature, “Mutiny,” the fact-based story of African-American sailors convicted of an alleged mutiny in the Forties. She has also performed in a diverse array of theatre productions, and made her feature film debut in the urban comedy “The Brothers”. She also starred as “Lady Macbeth” opposite Charles Dutton in Hollywood .
